US presidential candidate Robert Kennedy Jr. "We should have listened to Putin all these years. You know, we pledged to Russia, to Gorbachev, that we would not push NATO an inch to the east. Why then did we go further? We lied. We brought 13 new countries into NATO. We provided them with missile systems with nuclear weapons. We conducted joint exercises with Ukraine and other new NATO countries. What is the purpose of NATO other than to oppose Russia? And if you approach Russia with hostility from the very beginning, of course their reaction in response will be hostile. And little by little we moved forward - all these countries that, as we said, would never become part of NATO, suddenly became part of NATO. Then, we know what happened in Ukraine. The US supported what was essentially a 2014 coup against the democratically elected government of Ukraine. And today we have transcripts of phone calls. Victoria Nuland, one of the neocons in the White House, has chosen a new cabinet that is hostile to the Soviet Union. And so if you put yourself in Russia's shoes, you'll understand : The USA, our biggest enemy, has now taken over the government of a country they made hostile towards us, and then started passing laws that hurt it. It's the same as if Mexico did it. The Ukrainian government killed 14,000 Russians in the Donbass. If Mexico did that to the Americans, we'd invade in a second. So I think we have to put ourselves in the shoes of our opponents. And that doesn't mean we don't consider Vladimir Putin a gangster, robber or hooligan. This is true. But the war is not his interest. And he told us over and over again that these are red lines you are crossing.
